Photos: Kirlian Photography–raw organic kiwi fruit whole and halved from book Eating for Beauty by David Wolfe

Who knew food could be so colorful! The photographs above are Kirlian Photography images of how organic kiwi fruit looks on the “energetic level.” If only “Kirlian eye glasses” were a real possibility! Think how much easier shopping for the freshest, most nutrient-rich, energetically “alive” food would be.

This is the energy clairvoyants see with “the naked eye.” Maybe we can all learn to “see” the best food even without a Kirlian camera! Practice, lots of practice. Meanwhile, look for “organic” or “certified organic” labels!

Video: David Wolfe Noniland chocolate Farm

If you haven’t yet discovered author, nutritionist AND now organic farmer David Wolfe, then you’re in for a treat! In the video above Wolfe introduces the NoniLand Hawaiian Agricultural Research Center and Bee Sanctuary in Hawaii, the Chocolate Farm portion.

I have my fingers crossed that Wolfe and NoniLand are prepared for Hurricane Iselle, now bearing down on the BIG Island of Hawaii. A hurricane warning is in Effect! How can bees be prepared?! So…fingers crossed!

Meanwhile, here’s more about NoniLand organic foods:

Chocolate or cacao is of course one of the so-called “superfoods” available in organic food stores. These nutrient-rich superfoods pack an energetic punch. For example, a handful of gogi and/or golden berries with a few cacao bits thrown in will keep a belly full AND energy levels up for hours.

The more I read about these superfoods myself, the less I want to eat anything BUT superfoods! Of course David Wolfe has written at length about these special foods. Two books to check out are 1) Superfoods/Food and Medicine of the Future and 2) Eating for Beauty.

For more information about organic chocolate from Wolfe’s Hawaii reasearch center, visit Sacred Chocolate online. AND, keep your fingers crossed for Hawaii and NoniLand!

Photo: Coconut tree in the Phillipines

Have you ever tasted fresh coconut milk or coconut pulp straight from the tree? If not, you’ve missed a treat! Coconuts NOT ONLY taste delicious (even from the bottle or can), but the oil in coconuts offers huge benefits to health.
Coconut oil benefits even include possible remedies for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Why haven’t we heard about this until now?

The answer is that for many years (in the 1980’s) coconut oil was the unwitting target of a “smear campaign” by the canola oil producers in the US.  The object of course was to “kill the competition,” since coconut oil is a far healthier and more environmentally-friendly oil than canola. Congressional hearings were even held in the US. The canola industry heavies attempted to get a ban legislated. Medical and scientific experts testified on behalf of coconut oil, but the media (canola) bandwagon had already left the station.

That’s changed now. More and more research extols the benefits of coconut oil, an oil which has been used for thousands of years in the tropics for a multitude of benefits.

Locally, (organic, extra virgin) coconut oil products can be found in health food and grocery stores which feature ORGANIC (such as Choices Markets, Whole Foods, and Nutraways Canada).

green for life enlarged

Photo: Green for Life (book) by Victoria Boutenko

Raw is NOT good enough for greens! Pulverized is way better, if you want maximum nutrtional benefit from salad greens. In other words, “Green Smoothies” rule! That’s the main point of this “can’t put it down” read, Green for LifeAuthor Boutenko is engagingly informative. All health challenges for her whole family were remedied almost entirely by adding “green smoothies” to the family menu. This could work for you, too!

Green for Life includes lots of recipes for Green Smoothies plus recommendations for blenders which can actually thoroughly pulverize “greens.” (Most regular blenders cannot.) A few recipes are featured on the author’s websites, Green for Life and Raw Family. Have a look!

Photo: Harvesting bananas in Peru

Ever wonder where the expression “goin’ bananas” originated? A professor at CCNY (Community College of New York) has the answer. The expression “goin’ bananas” is from the effects bananas have on the brain.

According to the professor: “Bananas contain three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes.”

Energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit. Bananas can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions:

1–Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

2–Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

3–Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

4–Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

5–Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Organic or not, bananas have some surprising uses!  But, “never put your banana in the refrigerator!!!”

Organic SUPERFOODS are just that! Some of us do more than just eat our “peas and carrots,” organic or otherwise. Superfoods take a healthy diet “to the next level” (energetically and physically).

Here are two superfood examples: 1) Exsula (purchase online from either Life-Enthusiast or Exsula), and 2) Univera (purchase online from Univera). Stephen Cherniske, author and scientist for Univera product development, is featured on YouTube talking about Xperia (pictured above), my own personal favorite: Xperia.

Martin Pytela of Life-Enthusiast says this about Exsula’s special superfood, Iridesca:
“This is a therapeutic grade superfood made to fanatical standards since 1989 by Exsula, the original superfood company. Iridesca surprises with the energy it delivers from fine micronization and careful blending of its components. It can be compared to other superfood blends in this way: you can play good music with a string quartet or you can play grand music with the symphonic orchestra. Exsula Iridesca takes care of every metabolic need and all dietary shortcomings caused by modern lifestyles, and is made with organic and wild crafted ingredients.”

Check out the above websites for more information. Give superfoods a try! You’ll notice the difference in how you look AND feel almost immediately, and the benefits over times only multiply!
