Here’s a sampling of the many ORGANIC BAKERIES located in Vancouver and surrounds, starting with some on the North Shore:

1–Savary Island Pie Company (photo above): awesome breads (like “raisin rye”), soups and sandwiches (like “chicken basil”).  For “where” and “times open” click on Find Us. This West Vancouver bakery is very busy, very popular! (100 percent organic ingredients).

2–Choices Rice Bakery: wheat-free and gluten-free breads and other baked goods. Located just down the street from the original Choices Market Kitsalano. (60 percent organic).

3–Swiss Bakery (photo below): breads, scones, pretzels and danishes. Organic flour only, no artificial additives. Click link for location in Vancouver and hours.  (80 percent organic).

4–Artisan Bake Shoppe: breads of course plus soups and sandwiches. Certified organic flours only, all natural ingredients. On lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver. (90 percent organic).

5–Fieldstone Artisan Breads (photo below): hand-shaped (NOT mechanic) organic breads. Check out “What are Artisan Breads?” on the Fieldstone website for more information about the process. (75 percent organic).

This video is a delight! A happening! An organically-grown,  OPERATIC “flash mob” in a Philadelpia Market! Maybe the Vancouver Opera should try this at the Granville Island Public Market A creative way to promote local opera for sure! AND, for those in Vancouver, Canada under the seemingly-all-but endless gray skies, this video is a spirit lifter!
